A more comfortable game to read and handle

Large print is a starting point, not a promise that one layout suits everyone. Ask the people playing what makes the page easier for them.

Give the words room

Select large print for one bingo or tombala card per page, or six prompt cards per page. Use short, familiar words. A 3 × 3 bingo grid gives each word more room than a 5 × 5 grid. For word searches, use an 8 × 8 or 10 × 10 grid and easy directions. The larger text setting also enlarges the printed word list.

Test a real printed page

A bright screen is different from a printed sheet. Print at 100% scale with the matching A4 or Letter setting and turn browser headers and footers off. Look at the page from the distance it will be used. Black-ink mode removes decorative colour; answer squares remain marked by bold type and an outline. The game never relies on colour alone.

Make the table comfortable

Leave space between players and use counters that are easy to pick up. Call one item at a time, clearly, and repeat when asked. Keep a written record of called items available. Allow seated play and a partner who can help mark a card. Do not assume someone wants a faster or slower game based on their age.

Choose the pace together

Try a practice round without scoring, then agree on a finish everyone understands. Let people skip a prompt or stop without explaining. These are recreational activities, not medical or cognitive assessments; no therapeutic effect is claimed. A shared conversation matters as much as completing a card.
