Questions and answers

Short answers about making, printing and playing games with Paperoom. Everything runs in your browser, so most answers come down to your device, your printer and your table.

Using Paperoom

Is Paperoom free?

Yes. Paperoom is a free website, and you can customise, preview, print and download games without paying.

Do I need an account?

No. Paperoom works in your browser without an account, so you can start a game straight away.

Which games can I make?

The current list of game makers is on the games page. Each game has its own settings, which you can change before you preview the result.

How do I start?

Open a game, adjust its settings and add any content you want, such as your own words. Preview the result, then print it or download it as a PDF.

Can I save my settings for next time?

Yes. Paperoom can save a setup file and load it later, so you can reopen the same settings and content without typing them again.

How do I recreate the same set?

Use a repeatable seed. Enter the same seed with the same game and settings, and Paperoom recreates the same set. The seed is optional, and changing it gives you a new set.

Printing and PDFs

Should I choose A4 or US Letter?

Choose the paper size that matches the paper loaded in your printer. Paperoom offers both A4 and US Letter, so pick the one you have before you print.

What print settings should I use?

Print at 100% scale rather than "fit to page", as long as the sheet matches your paper size. Turn off the browser's headers and footers, and print one test sheet before you print a full set.

Can I print in large print?

Yes. Large print is one of the print options, which is useful when players need bigger text. Print one test sheet to check that the size suits your group.

Can I print in black ink only?

Yes. Paperoom offers a black-ink-only option, which is useful when you want to save colour ink.

Should I print or download a PDF?

Print directly when your printer is ready. Download a PDF when you want to keep a copy, print it later or take the file to a print shop.

What paper works for game boards?

Thicker paper or cardstock suits boards and pieces that will be handled often. Ordinary printer paper is fine for word searches, score sheets and a single session of play.

Why do PDF fonts download the first time?

The first PDF download fetches the fonts it needs from this site. Once they have loaded, they are saved on your device for offline use, and your game content stays on the device throughout.

Languages and your own words

Which languages is Paperoom in?

The interface is available in six languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and French.

Can I type my own words in any script?

Yes. Custom words can be written in any script, and accented letters such as é, ñ and ç can be used as you type them.

How do Arabic pages work?

Arabic pages are right-to-left, so menus and text read from the right. Number grids and coordinate grids stay left-to-right, so rows and columns are easy to follow.

Can I use Chinese characters in a word search?

Yes. Chinese characters can be entered as custom words in a word search, in the same way as words in other scripts.

What happens to duplicate words?

Duplicates are removed, so a word you enter twice appears only once in the puzzle or list.

Privacy and offline

Does my content leave my device?

No. Word lists, titles, prompts and generated games stay on your device. They are not sent to a server or to an AI service.

Is there analytics?

Analytics is optional and opt-in, so it runs only if you consent. It never includes game content, and the games work without it.

Can I install Paperoom as an app?

Yes. Paperoom is an installable web app, so you can add it to your device from your browser's install option.

Does it work offline?

Yes, once Paperoom has been installed or visited on your device. Games and PDF fonts are then saved on the device for offline use.

What happens if I clear site data?

Clearing the site's data in your browser removes what Paperoom saved on that device, including the offline copy. Visit the site again while you are online to set it up once more.

Games and rules

Who decides which pattern wins in bingo?

The players do. Agree on the winning patterns before the game starts, such as a line, a corner or a full card.

Can more than one person win?

Yes. Several winners can happen in the same round, so agree in advance how a prize is shared or whether the first call counts.

Do 90-ball tickets come in strips?

No. Paperoom's 90-ball tickets are independent, not six-ticket strips, so each ticket stands on its own.

Can a word search contain words I did not place?

Yes. The filler letters are random, so they can form an extra match by accident. If a player finds an unexpected word, check it against the list before you count it as an error.

Do puzzles come with answer keys?

Yes. Puzzles include answer keys, so you can check solutions quickly or give players a copy after the game.

Teachers and groups

Can I use Paperoom sheets in a classroom?

Yes. You may print and share sheets for personal, family, classroom and community activities without charge.

Can I use the games for betting or paid draws?

No. Printed sheets are for play, so do not use them for wagering or paid draws.

How do I give every class the same set?

Use the same game, settings and seed for each class. Paperoom recreates the same set each time you enter those values, so every class gets identical sheets.

Developers and AI agents

Is there a developer interface?

Yes. The developer page at /developers/ documents a deterministic JavaScript interface that runs on your device, and the visible game makers use the same code.

Does it run on a server?

No. It is a local library rather than an HTTP generation service, so it runs on the caller's device. Generated content never needs to be sent to a server.

Is there a summary for AI assistants?

Yes. The file /llms.txt summarises the site for AI assistants. An agent that uses the local interface also keeps all generated content on the device.
