# Round timer

> A countdown timer for game rounds, from 30 seconds to 10 minutes or any custom time. Start, pause and resume, with a gentle chime when time is up.

Give every player the same time. Choose a round length and press Start, and the ring counts down to zero, with a chime when time is up.

## Tips

- The timer measures real elapsed time, so the round ends on schedule even when the tab is in the background.
- Where your browser supports it, the screen stays awake while the timer runs.
- Your last round length and sound setting are remembered on this device only.

## Questions

### How accurate is the timer?

It measures real elapsed time with the browser's performance clock rather than counting interval ticks. In a background tab the chime can arrive a moment late, but the timer checks the time again as soon as the tab is shown.

### Does the chime need permission?

No. Your browser generates the two-tone chime with the Web Audio API after you press Start. Nothing is downloaded or sent, and the Sound chip turns it off.

### Does it work offline?

Once Paperoom is installed or the page has been saved for offline use, the timer runs without a connection.
