## How to play

1. On your turn, roll all five dice. You may roll up to three times, keeping the dice you want and rolling the rest again.
2. When the turn ends, write your points in one empty category. Each category can be filled once per player, and a category you cannot make scores zero.
3. Upper section: score each face by adding up the dice showing that number. If the upper total reaches 63, add the bonus.
4. Generala: five of a kind on the first roll, called generala servida, traditionally wins the game at once at many tables. Agree on the rule before you start.
5. Ten Thousand (also called Farkle, Diez mil or Dix mille): on each roll, keep the scoring ones, fives and sets, then bank your points or roll the rest. A roll with no scoring dice loses the turn. The first player to 10,000 points wins.

## Tips

- Agree on point values before the first roll. Scoring differs from table to table, and the sheet's typical values are only a starting point.
- Print on card or thick paper, and use a pencil so a wrong score is easy to correct.
- For larger groups, print one table per page. Two tables work best with four or fewer players.
- Keep a running total in the bottom rows, so nobody has to add up a whole column at the end of the game.

## Where it comes from

Five-dice games are played in many countries. Generala is a favourite in Argentina, Uruguay and much of Latin America. Yams, or Yam's, is the French family version, and yacht is an old English name for the same idea. Ten Thousand, also called Farkle, Diez mil or Dix mille, is a push-your-luck game. The early history of these dice games is not well documented, so names and rules vary from family to family.

## Questions

### Why are the points only typical values?

Scoring varies from table to table. The typical values are a starting point, and the note on the sheet reminds players to agree on theirs before the first roll.

### How do I choose the game?

Pick Generala, Yams, the five-dice yacht card or Ten Thousand. Each one prints its own categories, so the rows always match the game you are playing.

### Why does Ten Thousand have numbered turns?

Ten Thousand is scored turn by turn, so the sheet lists turns 1 to 25 and a total. Players add each turn's points as they go, and the first to the target score wins.

### When do I get two tables on a page?

Two tables fit when four or fewer players share a page in normal print. With more players, or in large print, one table fills the page.
